DRDO DEAL Paid Internship 2026

1. Important Dates & Deadlines

Colleges and students must ensure that the physical applications reach the DEAL office strictly within the prescribed timeline.

2. Vacancy Matrix & Disciplines

The Paid Internship Scheme is designed to recruit 45 young engineering and science talents across core technical disciplines utilized at DEAL.

3. Application Fee & Stipend Details

This is a fully funded program by DRDO. There are no registration costs associated with applying for this internship.

Application Fee

• All Categories: Nil (No application fee is required to apply for the DRDO DEAL Internship 2026).

Stipend & Allowances

• Total Stipend Amount: Selected interns will be paid a total honorarium of Rs. 30,000/-.
• Payment Structure: The stipend will be disbursed in two equal installments. Rs. 15,000/- will be paid after the successful completion of 3 months, and the remaining Rs. 15,000/- will be paid after completing the full 6 months.
• Attendance Condition: To be eligible for the stipend, interns must maintain a minimum attendance of 15 days in a month.
• Other Expenses: Interns are responsible for bearing their own expenses regarding lodging, boarding, transport, and medical needs during the course of the internship.

4. Essential Educational Eligibility Criteria

DRDO maintains strict academic prerequisites for granting entry into its highly secure and advanced research laboratories.

• Nationality: Only Indian Citizens are eligible to apply.
• Current Academic Status for UG: Engineering students pursuing full-time B.Tech/B.E. who have completed their 3rd year / 6th semester or are going to complete it by July 2026.
• Current Academic Status for PG: Engineering students pursuing full-time M.Tech/M.Sc.(Electronics) who have completed their 1st year / 2nd semester or are going to complete it by July 2026.
• No Backlogs Rule: Students who have backlogs (failed) in any of the exams in their first 05 semesters of the degree are NOT eligible to apply.
• Academic Performance: Candidates must maintain a CGPA of 7.0 or above on a scale of 10 from AICTE-approved Colleges/Universities. (Percentage to CGPA conversion must follow the standard AICTE formula).

5. Duration & Undertaking Requirements

Since DEAL is a critical Ministry of Defence establishment, interns are bound by strict security and confidentiality protocols.

• Internship Duration: The internship program will run for a fixed period of 06 months. Students who do not complete the full 6 months will not be eligible for the stipend or the completion certificate.
• Official Secrets Act: Interns must sign an undertaking (Appendix - C) certifying they are acquainted with the provisions of the Indian Official Secret Act, 1923, and understand the penalties for any breach of official trust.
• IT Rules Compliance: Interns must agree to follow the IT Rules & Regulations applicable to the Ministry of Defence.
• College Responsibility: The Head/Principal of the candidate's college must sign a declaration taking full responsibility for the student's good conduct and adherence to security norms during the 6-month tenure at DEAL.

6. Step-by-Step Offline Application Guide

The application process is offline and requires coordination with your college administration.

1. Download the Form: Obtain the official application format and the required appendices (Appendix A for the Application, Appendix B for College Endorsement, Appendix C for Security Undertakings) from the official notification.
2. Fill Personal Details: Carefully enter your Name, Degree, Discipline/Branch, Current Semester/Year, College Name & Address, and your Aggregate CGPA/Percentage.
3. Secure College Endorsement: Take the filled form (specifically Appendix B) to your Head of Department or College Principal. Obtain their Recommendation Letter/NOC, signature, and the official College Seal.
4. Prepare Bio-Data: Draft a brief Bio-Data/resume as required by the notification checklist.
5. Assemble Dossier: Pack the fully signed application form, academic transcripts up to the current semester (reflecting CGPA/Percentage), a copy of your Aadhar Card, College Identity Card, and the recommendation letter.
6. Dispatch Application: Send the physical application dossier via Speed Post to reach the designated DEAL office before the closing date of 30 June 2026.

7. Envelope Labeling: On top of the envelope, clearly mention "Application for DRDO Paid Internship" along with your specific "Branch / Discipline" for easy segregation. Note: Applications sent via email will not be considered.

7. Important Documents Required at Joining

Shortlisted candidates will be notified of the joining procedures. Upon selection, students must present the following original documents at the time of joining:

• No Objection Certificate (NOC) from college authorities on a college letterhead, confirming relief for the internship and assuring a minimum of 15 working days present per month.
• Police Verification from the local police station of the candidate's Home Town (an acknowledgement receipt is acceptable at joining).
• Signed undertakings for the Indian Official Secret Act, 1923 and IT Rules & Regulations.
• Bank details (Passbook Front Page or Cancelled Cheque) for stipend transfer.
• Original Aadhar card and College ID card for verification.
• Three (03) passport-size color photographs.
• Original mark sheets of all previous semesters (returned immediately after verification).
• Indemnity Form to be filled out at the time of joining DEAL.
