Eligible Cadres

• All serving regular Technicians working in the Electrical (TRD) Department of Khurda Road Division (KUR) currently placed in Pay Level-2, Level-4, Level-5, and Level-6 are eligible to apply.

Length of Continuous Service

• Applicants must have completed a minimum of 03 years of continuous Railway service in a skilled grade as of the notification date (25.05.2026).
• For personnel who joined the Electrical (TRD) department in KUR Division on an "on request transfer" basis, their initial service length calculation follows RBE No. 34/2006 rules.

Minimum Educational Qualifications

Departmental employees must possess any of the following educational milestones to meet the screening bar:

• A regular Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, including their recognized sub-stream branches; OR
• Possess a valid pass certificate in ITI / Act Apprenticeship; OR
• Possess a valid 10+2 qualification in the Science Stream.

Upper Age Boundary

• Unreserved Candidates (UR): Maximum age boundary must not exceed 47 years as of 25 May 2026.
• Scheduled Tribe Candidates (ST): Maximum age boundary must not exceed 52 years as of 25 May 2026.

4. Medical Standards & Selection Mode

The screening architecture mandates verification of physical fitness alongside professional aptitude.

• Medical Fitness Standards: Volunteering employees must be fit in the A-3 (Aye-three) medical classification required specifically for the TRD wing operations.
• Pre-Selection Coaching: Eligible ST candidates will be provided a mandatory pre-selection training module by their respective units as per Railway Board circulars.
• Selection Mechanics: The final evaluation setup encompasses a Computer-Based Test (CBT) or Tablet-Based Test (TBT), followed closely by a thorough scrutiny of Service Records and the last three years' Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs).

5. Computer Based Written Exam Pattern

The written test follows standard technological configurations managed entirely via computer infrastructure.

• Question Structure: The question paper will consist of 100% objective multiple-choice type questions presented in both Hindi and English languages.
• Total Number of Questions: There will be a total of 110 questions. Out of these, 10 optional questions will be framed around the "Rajbhasha" policy rules. Candidates are required to answer a maximum of 100 questions. If an employee solves more than 100 questions, only the first 100 items will undergo evaluation tracking.
• Negative Marking: There is a clear negative evaluation clause. One-third (1/3) of the allotted marks will be deducted for every incorrect response marked.
• Duration of Test: The total time framework provided to complete the test is exactly 02 hours (120 minutes).
• Qualifying Score: Candidates must score a minimum of 60% marks in the written test to qualify for the next stage of SR and APAR evaluation. Since this is a safety category post, no relaxation in marks is admissible for SC/ST employees.

1. Elementary Engineering

• Mechanics & Motion: Laws of motion, particle dynamics, work, energy, rotational motion, equilibrium, and gravitation.
• Physics Principles: Waves, oscillations, heat, and thermodynamics.
• Electricity & Protection: DC and AC current circuits, impedance, electrical measurement, electrical earthing, fuses, circuit breakers, and protective relay systems.
• Materials: Engineering materials properties, semiconductor devices, transistors, thyristors, and Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBT).

2. Mathematics

• Elementary algebra, linear/quadratic equations, logarithms, exponents, arithmetic and geometric series, binomial expansion, factorization, real and imaginary numbers, and surds.
• Trigonometric functions/identities, coordinate geometry (straight lines, circles, parabola, hyperbola), elementary arithmetic (time, distance, work), surface areas, and volumes.

3. General Knowledge & English

• General Knowledge: Current affairs across Indian and World Polity, economic frameworks (IMF, ADB, exchange rates, RBI, inflation, monetary policy), Indian and World History, physical geography, population data, sports, and science & technology advancements.
• English: Vocabulary, comprehension, parts of speech, prepositions, verbs, proper usage of tenses, phrases, conjunctions, syntax error correction, direct/indirect speech, and active/passive voice mechanics.

4. Rajbhasha (Official Language Policy)

• Schedules and constitutional provisions concerning Rajbhasha, Official Languages Act 1963 (amended 1976), the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, Official Language Implementation Committees, incentives/award schemes, and Hindi training frameworks.

7. Step-by-Step Offline Application Guide

Departmental staff must complete and file the prescribed proforma cleanly. Deficient records will lead to immediate cancellation.

1. Obtain a clean copy of the application form provided as Annexure-A appended to the selection notification.
2. Fill in all text fields legibly in Capital Letters Only (especially Name and Email ID columns). Do not leave any column blank.
3. Affix a recent color passport-size photograph in the marked space, ensuring it is properly countersigned and attested by your controlling supervisor.
