1. Vacancy Distribution Matrix

For the recruitment year 2026, the Directorate General has authorized a total of 50 vacancies. The distribution of these vacancies adheres to the standard reservation policies configured by the Government of India, segmented precisely as follows:

Crucial Note: The stated vacancy count is provisional. The Director General of SSB reserves the absolute administrative right to increase, decrease, or completely cancel these vacancies at any stage of the recruitment process without assigning any prior reasons or notices.

2. Eligible Trade Categories

Only serving male and female personnel occupying specific roles within the force are permitted to submit their applications. The following Combatised Constable (CT) designations are officially recognized for this remusteration drive:

3. Stringent Eligibility & Service Requirements

• Minimum Regular Service: Candidates must have successfully completed a minimum of 3 years of regular, uninterrupted service within the Sashastra Seema Bal.
• Crucial Cut-off Date for Service: The computation of this 3-year regular service tenure will be firmly anchored to 01 January 2026.
• Essential Educational Benchmark: Candidates must possess a valid Matriculation (10th pass) certificate or its equivalent from a recognized state or central board of education.
• Medical Fitness: Candidates must hold the latest, undisputed medical category classification of SHAPE-I.
• Immaculate Service Record: A completely clean service record extending across the preceding 3 years of service is non-negotiable.
• APAR Grading Benchmarks: The Annual Performance Assessment Report (APAR) gradings for the three preceding assessment years (specifically 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25) must absolutely not fall below the "Good" benchmark. Quantitatively, this means the APAR scores must not be below 04 numbers.

4. Upper Age Limits & Crucial Dates

5. Comprehensive Selection Process

The recruitment methodology is designed as a phased elimination sequence. Securing qualifying marks at one stage is mandatory to progress to the subsequent evaluation. The process unfolds as follows:

1. Physical Standard Test (PST): All candidates issued an admit card will undergo stringent physical measurements (height, chest for males, and weight) followed immediately by biometric identification and verification.
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates clearing the PST will be subjected to endurance runs to prove their stamina and cardiovascular fitness. Note: Both PST and PET are purely qualifying in nature and do not carry merit marks.
3. Written Examination: The core merit-deciding phase. A comprehensive 100-mark test evaluating multiple intelligence parameters.
4. Documentation: Rigorous scrutiny of all original certificates, service records, NOCs, and APAR dossiers. Any discrepancy here leads to immediate, unappealable disqualification.
5. Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Conducted as per the Revised Medical Guidelines issued by the MHA. Only candidates clearing the written test cut-off will face the medical board.
6. Review Medical Examination (RME): Candidates declared unfit in the DME can appeal within 24 hours. The RME board's decision is absolute and final, with no provision for a second appeal.

Merit List Tie-Breaking Principles: In the event that two or more candidates secure identical marks in the written test, the tie will be resolved by age—the older candidate will be assigned higher merit. If the tie persists, the candidate with the longer total service tenure in SSB will be placed higher.

6. Detailed Physical Standard Test (PST) Metrics

Height and chest measurements must be precise to one decimal place. Candidates falling short by even a fraction (e.g., measuring 169.9 cm against a 170.0 cm requirement) will face immediate disqualification. Candidates seeking regional relaxations must produce authentic certificates from relevant District Authorities during documentation.

Weight & BMI Evaluation: According to the MHA office memorandum, the normal permissible Body Mass Index (BMI) range is calculated strictly between 18 and 25. The BMI formula applied is Weight in KG / (Height in meters) squared. While weight discrepancies will not trigger disqualification during the initial PST stage, overweight or underweight parameters will result in definitive disqualification during the Detailed Medical Examination (DME).

7. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Female Guidelines

The endurance testing is structured to filter out candidates lacking the cardiovascular stamina necessary for combat and border patrol duties.

• Male Candidates: Required to successfully complete a 5 Kilometers cross-country race within a maximum time limit of 24 minutes.
• Female Candidates: Required to successfully complete a 1.6 Kilometers race within a maximum time limit of 8 minutes 30 seconds.

Special Clauses for Female Candidates: Upon reporting for the PST/PET, every female candidate must submit a self-declaration indicating her pregnancy status. If she declares she is not pregnant, she proceeds to the tests. If she declares she is pregnant, a confirmatory medical test is conducted at an SSB Hospital. If confirmed pregnant (irrespective of duration), she is declared temporarily unfit, and her participation is held in abeyance. However, her vacancy is reserved. She will be re-examined for the PST/PET exactly six weeks after confinement is over, provided she produces a medical fitness certificate from a registered practitioner. If she subsequently qualifies all stages, she retains her original seniority benefits.

8. Written Examination Syllabus & Qualifying Marks

The written examination dictates the final merit ranking. All candidates qualifying the physical parameters (including temporarily unfit female candidates after their eventual clearance) will sit for this test.

• Duration & Format: The examination lasts for a total of 2 Hours and carries a maximum of 100 Marks. It comprises 100 multiple-choice, objective-type questions.
• Syllabus Focus Areas: The bilingual paper (English/Hindi) will thoroughly test General Awareness, General Knowledge, Knowledge of Elementary Mathematics, Analytical Aptitude, the ability to observe and distinguish patterns, and basic linguistic proficiency in English or Hindi.
• Minimum Qualifying Baselines: Securing the minimum marks does not guarantee selection, but failing to reach them guarantees rejection.
  • General Category Candidates: Minimum 35% marks.
  • SC / ST / OBC Category Candidates: Minimum 33% marks.

9. Offline Application Submission & Routing Protocol

This internal recruitment relies exclusively on a structured, multi-tier offline application routing protocol. Personnel deployed on active duty, deputation, or remote areas must coordinate with their current duty stations to access the proformas.

1. Proforma Preparation: Applicants must extract Appendix "A" (Application Form) and attach a self-attested passport-size photograph (3.5 x 4.5 cm).
2. Documentation Attachments: The application must be bundled alongside proof of Date of Birth, Educational Qualifications, Category Certificates (SC/ST/OBC), Domicile proofs (if claiming height relaxation), and the latest SHAPE-I medical certificate.
3. Unit Head Endorsements: The respective Unit Commandant/Head must thoroughly scrutinize the service records and officially endorse the No Objection Certificate (Annexure "B"), the Service Certificate (Appendix "C") detailing APAR scores, and execute the final Check List (Appendix "D").
4. Stage 1 Deadline (Individual to Unit): Candidates must hand over their completed dossiers to their respective unit offices absolutely no later than 20 June 2026. Applications submitted post this date will be summarily rejected.
