2. Vacancy Details & Location

The single vacancy is attached to the main RBI office in Chandigarh.

Dispensary Location & Tentative Timings

The location and working hours are subject to change based on the Bank's administrative requirements.

• Dispensary Location: Main Office Building Dispensary, Reserve Bank of India, Central Vista, Sector-17, Chandigarh-160017.
• Working Days: Monday to Friday.
• Tentative Working Hours: 09:45 AM to 01:15 PM.
• Note: The Bank reserves the right to review and alter the duty hours and the dispensary location at its discretion. The total number of working hours may be increased up to a maximum of 30 hours per week as per operational requirements.

3. Remuneration & Duty Hours

The compensation package for the BMC is strictly hourly, governed by the following contract terms:

• Hourly Rate: A fixed remuneration of ₹ 1,000/- per hour will be paid for the entire 3-year contract period.
• Fixed Monthly Allowances: Out of the total monthly remuneration generated from the hourly rate, a sum of ₹ 1,000/- per month will be treated as conveyance expenses, and another ₹ 1,000/- per month will be paid as mobile charge reimbursement. No other facilities or perks are payable.
• Holiday Compensation: If required to attend the dispensary on any public holiday, compensation will be paid at the same rate of ₹ 1,000/- per hour.
• Benefits Exclusion: As a purely contractual engagement, no superannuation benefits (Pension, PF, Gratuity), leave, or other regular employee perquisites are admissible.
• Contract Duration: The engagement is for a fixed period of three (03) years. There will be absolutely no renewal of engagement upon completion of the contract.

4. Essential Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must strictly fulfill the following professional and geographical parameters as on 27 May 2026:

Educational & Professional Requirements

• The applicant must possess an MBBS degree in the allopathic system of medicine from any University recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
• Applicants holding a postgraduate degree in General Medicine from an MCI-recognized university may also apply.
• Experience: Must possess a minimum of two (02) years of experience practicing the allopathic system of medicine in any hospital or clinic as a Registered Medical Practitioner.

Geographical Constraint

• The applicant must have his/her own dispensary or place of residence within a radius of 30 Kms from the Bank’s dispensary in Chandigarh.

OBC Reservation Rules

• Candidates must submit a valid OBC certificate indicating they do not belong to the Creamy Layer.
• The OBC certificate must be issued on or after April 01, 2026, but not later than the application closing date.
• The certificate must be based on income for the Financial Years 2025-26, 2024-25, and 2023-24.

5. Duties & Responsibilities of BMC

The Bank’s Medical Consultant performs the duties of a General Medical Practitioner under the Bank's Medical Facilities Scheme. Responsibilities include:

• Attending to the Bank's dispensaries to give advice, prescribe medicines, and administer injections free of charge to staff members, their dependent families, and retired employees.
• Treating both minor and major illnesses and handling emergency cases at the dispensary or within the Bank's premises.
• Administering injections, important dressings, and minor surgeries.
• Visiting staff quarters for medical emergencies and issuing relevant fitness or leave certificates.
• Inspecting the office premises and staff quarters monthly for sanitary and hygienic conditions.
• Providing professional opinions on medical claims and treatment costs referred by the Bank.
• Strictly adhering to the Bank's Code of Conduct, which prohibits active participation in politics, unauthorized press contributions, or any form of sexual harassment at the workplace.

6. Modalities for Selection

The selection process involves thorough screening followed by an interview.

• Interview & Document Verification: The Bank will shortlist candidates based on eligibility and may raise the minimum standards to limit the number of candidates called for the interview.
• Medical Examination: Shortlisted applicants must undergo a medical examination as per prescribed norms (costs borne by the applicant) before final engagement.
• Final Engagement: Subject to medical fitness, acceptance of the Terms and Conditions (Annex-I), Code of Conduct (Annex-II), and signing a formal agreement with the Bank.

7. Step-by-Step Offline Application Guide

Applications must be submitted in physical format using the prescribed Annex-III.

1. Download the official application format from the RBI website.
2. Fill out the application form carefully in the prescribed format.
3. Collate photocopies of certificates regarding Professional/Academic Qualifications, Caste Certificate (OBC Non-Creamy Layer), and experience certificates.
4. Place the application and documents in a sealed cover.
5. Super-scribe the envelope as: ‘Application for the post of Bank’s Medical Consultant (BMC) on Contract Basis with fixed hourly remuneration’.
