4. Age Limit & Essential Qualifications

A. Age Limit

  • Maximum Age: Not exceeding 50 years as on the closing date (27.07.2026).
  • Age Relaxation: Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and ESIC/Govt. employees, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for PwBD candidates as per Central Government norms.

B. Educational Qualifications

  • For Medical Candidates: A recognized medical qualification included in the First/Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Plus, a post-graduate qualification e.g., MD/MS or recognized equivalent in the respective subject.
  • For Non-Medical Candidates: A postgraduate qualification (Master's Degree) in the concerned subject and a Doctorate degree from a recognized University in the respective subject.

C. Experience Requirements

Candidates must possess valid teaching experience recognized by the NMC:

  • Four years teaching experience as a Reader or Associate Professor in a recognized medical college in the concerned specialty; OR
  • Three years teaching experience as Associate Professor in the concerned specialty with a minimum of four research publications in indexed or national journals (published as the First Author).
  • Note: Teaching experience as a General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) will not be considered.

The application fee must be paid strictly via a Demand Draft or Banker's Cheque drawn on any Scheduled Bank, valid for at least three months.

6. Selection Procedure Highlights

The selection process does not involve a written examination.

  • Shortlisting: In case of a large number of applications, ESIC will shortlist candidates based on their teaching experience (at the level of Associate Professor/Reader or higher) beyond the minimum required eligibility.
  • Personal Interview: Selection will be made entirely on the basis of a Personal Interview conducted by the Selection Board (Total Marks: 100).
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR/EWS: 50 marks | OBC: 45 marks | SC/ST/PwBD: 40 marks.
