BSNL JTO Recruitment 2026

1. Important Dates & Action Timeline

Candidates must ensure their online applications are submitted within the prescribed time limits to avoid last-minute server issues.

2. Category-Wise Vacancy & Pay Scale Details

A total of 100 vacancies have been announced across 21 specific recruiting circles. Candidates can exercise their options for circle preferences during the application process.

Note: Out of the total 100 vacancies, 5 vacancies are horizontally reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Pay Scale Structure

The Junior Telecom Officer (Telecom) shall be recruited in the IDA pay scale [E-1] of Rs. 16,400 to Rs. 40,500/- (2nd PRC pay scale w.e.f. 01.01.2007) along with other applicable allowances.

3. Essential Qualifications & Age Limit

Educational Qualification

Applicant must possess the following educational qualifications from a recognized Institution/University as on the closing date of application:

• Bachelor of Engineering Degree (B.E./B.Tech) or equivalent in any of the following disciplines:
  • Telecommunications
  • Electronics
  • Radio
  • Computer
  • Electrical
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Instrumentation
• OR M.Sc. (Electronics) / M.Sc. (Computer Science).
• Candidates possessing higher qualifications like M.Tech in the prescribed disciplines are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit (As on 03 July 2026)

• Minimum Age: 20 Years
• Maximum Age: 30 Years
• Age Relaxations:
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years (Up to 33 Years)
  • SC/ST Category: 5 Years (Up to 35 Years)
  • PwBD (UR/EWS): 10 Years (Up to 40 Years)
  • PwBD (OBC-NCL): 13 Years (Up to 43 Years)
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 Years (Up to 45 Years)
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per Central Govt. Rules.
  • BSNL Employees: Up to 50 years based on category guidelines.

4. Mandatory Application Fee Structure

The examination fee must be paid strictly through the online payment gateway (Internet Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card). The fee is non-refundable.

• UR / OBC / EWS Candidates: Rs. 2000/- (Rupees Two Thousand only)
• SC / ST / PwBD Candidates: Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only)

5. Selection Process & Exam Syllabus Pattern

Selection will be made through an All-India competitive "Computer based-Multiple Choice-Objective Type Test".

Exam Pattern

• Mode of Exam: Objective Type (CBT) with Negative Marking (-1 mark for each wrong answer, +4 marks for each correct answer).
• Duration: 3 Hours (conducted in ONE shift).

Minimum Qualifying Marks

• UR / OBC (CL): Minimum 40% in each section AND overall 50% combined in all three sections.
• SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / PwBD / EWS: Minimum 35% in each section AND overall 45% combined in all three sections.

6. Bond, Training & Probation Period

• Service Bond: All selected candidates will execute a Bond of Rupees 06 (Six) Lakhs to serve BSNL for a period of at least FIVE YEARS from the date of their appointment.
• Probation Period: Two Years.
• Training Structure: Selected candidates must successfully undergo pre-appointment training. This includes JTO Phase-I training (10 weeks), Field Training (4 weeks), and JTO Phase-II training (6 weeks). During training, candidates will receive a training allowance/stipend as decided by BSNL.

7. Step-by-Step Online Application Guide

Applications will only be accepted online through the official external exam portal of BSNL.

1. Visit the BSNL external exam website: www.externalexam.bsnl.co.in.
2. Read the detailed notification carefully and ensure you meet the eligibility criteria.
3. Keep a valid mobile number and Email ID ready for OTP verification.
4. Upload Scanned Documents:
   • Recent passport-size colour photograph with white background (20kb-50kb, JPG/JPEG).
   • Candidate's Signature (10kb-20kb, JPG/JPEG).
   • Class 10th Certificate (DOB proof).
   • Consolidated Mark sheet/transcript of essential qualification.
   • Degree Certificate of Essential Qualification.
   • Photo identity proof (Aadhaar, Passport, Driving License, Voter Id).
   • Valid Category/Reservation certificate if applicable.
5. Select your 21 circle preferences carefully from the drop-down menu in order of priority.
6. Pay the required examination fee online and submit the application.
7. Take a printout of the computer-generated registration form for your records and future reference.
