Service Conditions & Eligibility Criteria Only departmental candidates possessing continuous service lines within the specified division can apply. External entries are completely barred. Eligible Cadres All serving regular Technicians working in the Electrical (TRD) Department of Khurda Road Division (KUR) currently placed in Pay Level-2, Level-4, Level-5, and Level-6 are eligible to apply. Length of Continuous Service Applicants must have completed a minimum of 03 years of continuous Railway service in a skilled grade as of the notification date (25.05.2026). For personnel who joined the Electrical (TRD) department in KUR Division on an “on request transfer” basis, their initial service length calculation follows RBE No. 34/2006 rules. Minimum Educational Qualifications Departmental employees must possess any of the following educational milestones to meet the screening bar: A regular Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, including their recognized sub-stream branches; OR Possess a valid pass certificate in ITI / Act Apprenticeship; OR Possess a valid 10+2 qualification in the Science Stream. Upper Age Boundary Unreserved Candidates (UR): Maximum age boundary must not exceed 47 years as of 25 May 2026. Computer Based Written Exam Pattern The written test follows standard technological configurations managed entirely via computer infrastructure. Question Structure: The question paper will consist of 100% objective multiple-choice type questions presented in both Hindi and English languages. Total Number of Questions: There will be a total of 110 questions. Out of these, 10 optional questions will be framed around the “Rajbhasha” policy rules. Candidates are required to answer a maximum of 100 questions. If an employee solves more than 100 questions, only the first 100 items will undergo evaluation tracking. Negative Marking: There is a clear negative evaluation clause. One-third (1/3) of the allotted marks will be deducted for every incorrect response marked. Duration of Test: The total time framework provided to complete the test is exactly 02 hours (120 minutes). Qualifying Score: Candidates must score a minimum of 60% marks in the written test to qualify for the next stage of SR and APAR evaluation. Physics Principles: Waves, oscillations, heat, and thermodynamics. Electricity & Protection: DC and AC current circuits, impedance, electrical measurement, electrical earthing, fuses, circuit breakers, and protective relay systems. Materials: Engineering materials properties, semiconductor devices, transistors, thyristors, and Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBT). 2. Mathematics Elementary algebra, linear/quadratic equations, logarithms, exponents, arithmetic and geometric series, binomial expansion, factorization, real and imaginary numbers, and surds.
